Southwest Cancellation Fees & Policy

How to Save on Last Minute Travel Changes

Southwest has the most lenient policy for U.S. airline’s when it comes to flight cancellations. Southwest allows to you to change or cancel your flight within 24 hours of booking and will refund the airfare back to the original form of payment – no questions asked.

If you’ve missed that 24 hour window you are still in luck. Unlike other airline’s that charge hefty cancellation fees, Southwest will still allow you to cancel or change your flight anytime prior to your boarding time. Instead of a full reimbursement to your original form of payment, they will issue a credit for the full amount of your fare that can be used for future travel within a year of your original reservation.

Your Credit Card’s Price Protection

If you’ve booked with Southwest you don’t have to worry about cancellation fees, but for other travel protection keep in mind that many credit cards include travel insurance if you purchased your ticket with their card.
